Rob Herman

Chief Rob Herman was hired not only as our first Police Officer but additionally as our Training Coordinator. On December 4, 2018 Rob was promoted to Chief of Police. Rob was born, raised and has worked in Middletown. After graduating from Eastern High School, he attended Eastern Kentucky University where he studied Fire and Safety Engineering and Police Administration. After college he worked for the Middletown Fire Protection District as a Fire Fighter/Fire Inspector/EMT and then moved on to the Jefferson County Police. Officer Herman started his 22- year career with LMPD in Patrol of the 7th Division where his beat included residential, businesses such as Ford and parts of UPS, the airport, etc. From there he was promoted to Street Detective where he primarily worked with Narcotics Investigations. Soon after the tragedy of 9/11, LMPD sent Rob to team up with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force where they worked International and Domestic Terrorism cases. The final years of his career were spent in conducting Firearms Training for new Police Recruits and In-Service classes for Veteran Officers until retirement in Dec. 2017.
