Brian Roggenkamp graduated from Trinity High School and the University of Louisville. He was hired by former Jefferson County Police (JCPD) in fall of 1998 in the position of Police Cadet and attended DOCJT Basic Academy in the summer of 1999. Upon graduation Roggenkamp was assigned to Patrol Division / David District (JCPD) and served there until the Spring of 2006. While assigned to Patrol, he also had auxiliary duties including Field Training Officer and ABC Officer. In the Spring of 2006, he moved to the position of 3rd Division Detective (LMPD). In this position he was assigned criminal cases ranging from property crimes to assaults that occurred within the 3rd Division.
In the fall of 2009 Roggenkamp transferred to LMPD Major Crimes Division as a Detective in the Financial Crimes Unit. In 2014 he was assigned as a Task Force Officer for the United States Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force, at the same time maintaining his assignment with LMPD Financial Crimes Unit. While assigned to the Financial Crimes Unit and USSS Task force, duties included investigating in depth financial crimes while working hand in hand with Federal Agents ultimately presenting our finding to Commonwealth Attorneys' or United States Attorney's Office for prosecution. Both positions were held until retirement in December of 2019. During Roggenkamp's career with JCPD/LMPD he also served in part time positions include Dignitary Protection Team (2005-2019) and KLEC part time instructor.
